Nikki Haley to Resign at the end of the year

President Trump's ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki R. Haley, said on Tuesday that she would resign at the end of the year, marking the death of one of the couple high-profile women in the Trump government. White House staff members were caught off guard by the statement, which Ms. Haley and Mr. Trump had kept carefully under wraps. However, the President stated Ms. Haley had informed him about six months back that she wished to take a rest at the time his government reached its next anniversary. He said he hoped Ms. Haley would come back in a different role, and that he'd name her successor in the forthcoming months.

"This was a boon to go into the U.N. with body armor every day and defend America," Ms. Haley, seated alongside President Trump in the Oval Office, told reporters. "I will never truly step aside from fighting for our country. But I will tell you that I think it's time."
